The Beautiful Weather Hasn't Stopped Colds and the Flu!

Dear Families, many of my wonderful students are sick with colds and/or the flu!

There are a lot of students, sniffling, coughing, sneezing and generally feeling ill. Please ensure that if your child is ill you keep them home. It is really difficult to try to pay attention in class when you are sick. We are trying very hard to keep our hands clean and cover our coughs but unfortunately these germs spread quickly.

If your child is going to be away, be it for illness or otherwise, they can stay on top of their work by checking this BLOG daily and accessing their textbooks on line via Pearson Portal.  Both this Blog and Pearson are accessable any where you have internet connectivity. Staying on top of homework really eases a child's anxiety when they have missed school.

One of my grade 6 students was away ill.  As per procedure, when this student returned I advised them that they had work to catch up on and they should see me and their table mates.  This student responded that "they were all caught up!" They said, "I looked on the blog to see my homework, then I went to Pearson Portal and used my text book online, and I reviewed the science even though I did not have the sheets at home!"  WOOOOOHOOOO I was so happy.  Suffice to say, it was a great moment of a student using the things I have implemented in class and the technology available to them to keep in charge of their studies! Happy Friday!!!

Well another Friday has come our way! What a blessing to have such lovely weather.

We had a gorgeous walk to Mass today and such a great message was given to us by Father John.  Father told us a story about his car breaking down on the way to mass in Lumsden as a young priest.  It was a story similar to that of the Good Samaritan.  Ask your child what he said.

A HUGE THANK YOU to all of our St. Francis Family volunteers and the  CSCC for the amazing new playground that is going in this weekend.  If you have time to stop by, lend a hand or bring treats I'm sure they would be most grateful!
