Work Hard, Pay Attention and Be Kind!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have had some challenging days in our grade 4/5 class this year.  I am really hoping that our class motto "Work Hard, Pay Attention and Be Kind" starts to really kick in. We are trying to work towards these ideas but we are still struggling.

It is very important that students try to complete their work and meet deadlines; especially if they have been away.

I am more than happy to meet with students before or after school to do this. I am also more than willing to meet with parents/guardians to assist with anything I can.

As I have said before, students need to focus in class and then use their time wisely to get their work done.

Thank you for working with your children on this......

It's The Weekend!

Happy weekend everyone!  I hope you all had fun at the Fall Frolic!

The Pita Lunch was a yummy success.  If you see members of the CSCC thank them for all the tremendous work they do to make your child's school experience amazing!

A few reminders for the weekend:

1.  Our Harris Burdick Poetry presentations are happening Monday!  Be prepared by practising your poem and making sure you are expressive when you present it.  You may bring props if you wish!

2.  Many students are still not completing assignments.  This is a problem.  It puts them behind in their studies and makes things very difficult for me as their teacher to move forward with what they need to learn.  Please know that students are given ample time to work on things in class.  If they do not finish at school they must do it at home.

Happy Weekend!

Another week of school has come and gone.  As most of you have heard, everyday that we have a great day in class we receive a token.  At the end of the week if we have a full week of tokens I bring a treat! I am really hoping that we start getting homework done so we can get back on track with treats!

No homework this weekend except the anti-bullying follow up questions!

Take care.

Thursday Homework

Parents...many students are not handing in their assignments and homework.  I hope that the Blog and the Agenda provide parents with enough information that they know what is due.

My policy will be that if students are not completely up to date with assignments they may miss out on extra class excursions and may have to stay before or after school to catch up.

The last day to hand in poems is tomorrow...they were due October 15th.
Make sure your math from yesterday is done.

Science Centre reflection due Friday.

Science Centre Trip

"To invent you need a good imagination and a good pile of junk.!"
Thomas Edison

Ask your child what they invented today!

We had so much fun at the science centre today.  Students took part in a workshop called "Innovate."  They protected their "potato chips" very well.

They watched an incredible video about engineers from NASA who spent months putting together something very cool!

Check it out:

Homework for Wednesday!

Just because we have Science Centre tomorrow doesn't mean you don't have to do it!

Grade 4 Math: Pg. 28 5,6,7,8
Grade 5 Math: Pg. 27 to 28 1 to 7

Grade 5's remember that 5C=20 is the same as saying 5 x C=20.

What you do on one side of the equals sign, you do the opposite on the other so: C=20/5   C=4   Check: 5 x 4=20

Get your religion quizzes signed...hopefully we will study harder next time! :(

Science Centre Tomorrow!

Hello all you young scientists!  Please remember to pack a lunch and snacks for the Science Centre.  We are boarding the busses between 9:10 and 9:15 so be here EARLY! Get your thinking caps on; we will be solving problems and exploring the realm of wonder!
