Second Monday in the New School!

Hello Families!

It is our second week in our new school and the kids are doing great!  We are really trying to instill a feeling of pride and respect in this new people.  Children are being very conscientious to take care of all they have been given!

Homework and Reminders:
  • New Spelling words Lesson #27
  • Inventor's Workshop...Start planning your project!  It is due May 12th.  No need to buy fancy stuff just use great junk from around your home!

Inventor’s Workshop

Due Date: Friday May 12, 2017.

Your mission my young scientists is to create a “machine of your own”; something that will make moving a load easier!

You can choose to make a SIMPLE MACHINE (which uses one simple machine like an inclined plane, wedge or lever)  or a COMPLEX MACHINE ( which is a combination of two or more simple machines like a bicycle).

Here’s What I Expect:

  1.  Draw a rough sketch of your design for your machine.
  2. Gather the materials you will need INCLUDING THE LOAD you want to move (maybe it’s a tennis ball, your brother’s dirty sock, a can of soup, or your teddy bear Bob…make it small and easy….no need to move grandma’s armchair!)
  3. Design your machine using simple items from home like lego, toilet paper tubes, string, rope, tape, glue, paperclips, elastics…anything you can find in your mom’s cupboards BUT PLEASE ASK FIRST!
  4. Put your machine to the test! Does it work to move your load?????
  5. Bring your machine and load to school and show me how SMART you are!!! I need you to present to the class!

    Good Luck Young Scientist!..................................Mrs. Walby
