We were so blessed today at Sacred Heart! Students were treated to hot chocolate, candy canes, and a movie!  To top our morning off the RCMP cadets showed up with gifts from Santa!  How lucky are our kiddos!?!?

We are heading into our final two week stretch before the Christmas Break.


 It is so very important that all students try to be here and get their assignments done on time.  I will be spending time over the Christmas Break marking and getting caught up.

Hello Families,


I hope all of you have recovered from the many Halloween treats and sugar rushes that probably occurred in your homes!


We are moving into a short week at school.  There is no school November 8th TPD, November 9th school holiday, and November 12th Remembrance Day Holiday.


We are doing a Remembrance Day project in school this week and having a liturgy to remember all those who fought for our freedom.  If you have time please speak with your child about the importance of these people to Canadian Citizens.

Hello families!


The buzz around the school has been incredible today and many youngsters are very excited for Halloween.  I too love the costumes and candy! 


Just a few gentle reminders about appropriate holiday costumes for tomorrow; please ensure your child does not bring any weapons (guns, knives, swords etc), please ensure that your child's costume is not too scary as we have little ones n the school that might be frightened, and pleas ensure that the  costume your child wears is appropriate for the child's age.

Hello Families!


We have another short week this week! No school on Friday as we have a staff retreat!


Tonight your child has a special task! 


We are going to be writing an expository essay about our school.  They need to think of one place in the school they want to describe, activities that Sacred Heart offers and a few of the staff members that are important to them.


We also spent some of the day working on our WONDER portraits; a multimedia approach to portraiture!

Meet The Teacher Night!

We had the best day to date in grade 5 today!  Students showed up ready to learn and they followed procedures to a "T"!  I am so proud of them!

We had another amazing day in Grade 5!  So much learning is already taking place.  We are working on whole numbers and place value, we are writing poems, we are talking about Indigenous World Views, and the best thing is that we have started to read the book "Wonder!"


Please ask your child what they think of this book.  They have been sent home to think about a time "when they have ever felt different."

Monday! Last Week of School!

Hello Families!


We are heading into our last week of the 2017/2018 school year.  I can hardly believe we are almost done.  It seems like just yesterday these sweet little faces were meeting me for the first day of Grade 5!  Suffice to say I am excited and inspired by the progress they have made.  Although we only have a few days left it is very important that your child is here.  There are awards ceremonies, Mass, a movie party, swimming, bouncy houses and memories to be made!


Please remind your child to bring a bag that they can use to bring home school items.


We also have Mass tomorrow so please wear appropriate footwear.

We have been working very hard this week finishing off our mini unit on the Federal Government, we have started an amazing movie poster based on a book we have read, we are working at home on our simple machines and finishing this unit, and we are finishing our Geometry Unit! WOW! We are really learning!


Please be mindful that we are walking to Easter Mass tomorrow.  Please ensure your child dresses in clean clothes and wears good walking shoes!

Praying for the Humboldt Broncos

Hello Families,


Welcome back from what I hope was a relaxing and joyful Easter Break.


 I am certain that all of you have heard of the horrific tragedy that occurred with regards to the Humboldt Broncos Hockey Team.  As a school, as a division and as a classroom we are praying for all families and people affected and touched by this awful event.  There are no words top describe the sadness we feel.  The power of prayer is immense; may we continue to keep these people close to our hearts and in the words we speak to Jesus.

It is finally the weekend and we were able to end the week on a great note with a full classroom of students.  It is amazing to watch their confidence soar when they are at school daily.  The students commented that they don't feel worried and feel confident coming to school when they are here consistently and know what has been "going on!"
