Fun Friday

Hello Families!


We have been so busy at school this week with school work, celebrations, mass and the Terry Fox run/walk.


Monday is an extremely important day at Sacred Heart.  We will be having a feast honouring the blessing of our buffalo.  As well, we will be celebrating Orange Shirt day in honour of residential school survivors. 


It is imperative that protocol be followed for our feast. Students know what is expected of them as we have gone over everything with them.

Hello Families!


We had such a great day today at Sacred Heart! We had a beautiful mass in the morning and then we participated in our Terry Fox run in the afternoon! The students and I are so grateful for such a wonderful day!

We have Mass tomorrow and will be walking to St Cecilia. As well, we have our Terry Fox run in the afternoon.  We will be going to Douglas Park.  Please make sure you wear proper footwear and clothing; don't forget your toonie!

We had a very productive day in grade 5.  Students really worked hard to complete tasks and assignments.  I encourage you to have your child here daily so that important instructional components are not missed.  Being at school daily is the key to success!

Hello Families!


We had a slow start to the week.  Students were very lethargic and sleepy.  I stressed to them the importance of getting enough sleep and being actively participating in their education.


I had all students log onto Pearson Portal to ensure that they could access textbooks via the internet  So far we have had great success.  I am hoping this allows all students to finish unfinished work at home.

• New Spelling words in agenda
• Map of Canada due tomorrow. Use Pearson to look in Social textbook if you need.

What a lovely day we have had today.  The students worked very hard at learning some new estimation strategies in math, they learned about different types of medicine in science, they worked on their spelling words, we had a health presentation on lice and Elder Mae came for a visit.

Wow where did the week go? We just completed our first full week of school.  The students have been working so hard.  As most of you know, we have a new teacher at our school Mrs. Walter.  This has allowed us to make some significant classroom adjustments which means more one on one time for your child.  Welcome Mrs. Walter!

Thursday Thoughts...

Hello Families!


I hope all of you found time to enjoy this much cooler day.  Our classroom was finally cool and it seemed so much easier for the students to focus.  We are well into the swing of things in class and the students seem so eager to learn.  We are already busy working on whole numbers in Math, sentences and paragraphs in Writing, the human body Science,  how Canada was formed in Social Studies and we have begun reading the book Crenshaw in Language Arts.

Wednesday Work!

Hello Families!


We have continued to work hard to establish routines and procedures in class.  It is very important that students remember agendas and complete homework so that they are able to keep up in class.  We have already had several students forget things and some that have already missed many days of school.  The formula for success is a combination of being at school and doing the work!

Hello Families,


I hope all of you had a great weekend filled with warm fall air and sunshine.  We are into our first full week of school and it was  nice to see so many bright faces this morning.


Please remember that your child needs to be at school on time, rested and they need to bring their back-pack and agenda daily!


New spelling words will be sent home at the beginning of the week with tests on Friday.  This week is an exception as we had a short week.  We will have a test tomorrow and new words tomorrow.

Fitness Friday!

Hello Families!


We have had a great start to our school year!  Today, in an effort to improve our fitness levels, we participated in a 15 minute school wide walk/run initiative. We all walked over to Dewdney park and walked/ran for 15 minutes in the beautiful sunshine!


Students have done a great job at getting back into the groove of school.  They are a lovely group of children and I am so happy to call them "my class!"

We had a great first Thursday of the year!  I am so blessed to have such a great group of children.  I am so impressed with their manners, how hard they are working and how sweet they are.




Everyday your student will complete their agenda with what work we have done in class and with any important reminders.  They will write down the work EVEN IF THEY ARE DONE. This is a great way to show you what they have done.
